Sadiq Khan Meets our Environmental Champions

It was deja-vu as the London Mayor Sadiq Khan arrived for his second visit at the school in four years – to launch the ULEZ expansion.

Our Year 6 eco champions Alusine, Ania, Ayaan, Inaya, Keziah, Rahel, Summer and Yves were the perfect welcome party – offering up their views on air quality and climate change in our area, and across the country, and the threats they pose. In fact, the Mayor highlighted their enthusiasm and passion for the environment in his televised speech at the Barbican later in the morning!

The children loved the experience, and they got to watch how key messages are communicated through various media. Ania said, “It was a really great opportunity because it was the Mayor and press and nerve-wracking but fun!” Yves added, “It was very interesting talking to him. I was grateful to be able to share my views, because Sadiq Khan can hopefully act as a messenger for children on air quality and environmental issues.” The children were great ambassadors for our school, and we are very proud of them for their eagerness and clarity on a subject that is important to them.
