Parent Case Study - Poppy and Tom

Poppy and Tom are enjoying learning music in the supportive surroundings of Prior Weston Primary School.

Poppy says:

“My favourite things at school are learning the violin, the orchestra club and art.”

Tom says:

“My favourite things at school are Maths and playing.”

Violin lessons

Tina is thrilled with the music opportunities at Prior Weston Primary, where all children are taught music skills and can learn violin or cello from Year 1. “Poppy is thriving in Year 3 and enjoys learning violin, while Tom is happy and progressing in Year 1,” she says.

Small classes

Living near the school, Tina knew it had a strong reputation. “My sister’s kids went there and had a great experience, so I didn’t hesitate with Poppy. She started in nursery at three, loved the teachers, and benefited from small classes with plenty of staff.”

Enjoying learning

Poppy quickly settled in and loves all subjects, especially Maths. “She enjoys learning violin and being in the orchestra. She recently played at a street party near the school. Poppy had fallen behind during Covid, but thanks to good teaching, she caught up and loves school, making many friends,” Tina says.

Starting nursery

Tom also attended Prior Weston’s nursery. Tina explains, “Before he started, he was diagnosed with autism. I informed the school, and while I wondered if they’d suggest a special school, they encouraged me to try mainstream, and I’m glad I did.”
